On March 11, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake brought the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant to the brink of catastrophe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kondo administration, already weakened by political scandals, mobilized to confront the crisis. Yet power outages, inadequate communication with the plant\u2019s operator, Too Electric Power, and entrenched bureaucracy plunged the response effort into chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the Yamada family, divided over the future of their ranch, and Mio and Fumie, a couple struggling with conflicting economic values, found themselves displaced overnight and forced onto the road to evacuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Prime Minister\u2019s Office stumbled from one misstep to the next, their lives were swept along by decisions beyond their control, opening ever deeper rifts in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
