In the city of Toyooka, where wild animals are part of everyday life, Kaiju arrives. The familiar landscape begins to transform. But what exactly is Kaiju? A deer, a human, Godzilla, or perhaps society itself as a vast entity?

Based on Hino7’s contemporary dance solo work “χ10 (Kaiju/monster)”, this performance incorporates Fumiya Saito’s surrealistic text, propelling “χ10″ toward a new interpretation. In the original “χ10″, the work presented the movements of a being with a physical structure entirely different from that of humans as a dance, attempting to expand our understanding of the boundaries of the body.

In “WaRp/sCaPe/esCApE”, by adding language—something comprehensible to human beings—the work creates an opportunity for each witness to interpret the seemingly unfamiliar existence through the lens of their own histories. The work ultimately seeks to connect with a broader question within a multicultural society: how we come to accept and understand the otherness of others.
