Her major works to date include “I’M MEAT!” and “Not for You”. Her work has been selected for KAAT’s “Kaihatsu” and the Toyooka Theater Festival Fringe Showcase 2025, among others.
Selected the Stage Arts Specialist Dispatch Program (Co-hosted by YPAM) Bangkok Dispatch Artist, and received the “MVP Award” at the Kanagawa Performing Arts Award 2026, the ACY Artist Fellow for the 2026–2027.

What I want to do—something like a concert, whether anyone is there or not; or something like peeking into a practice room; or a workshop-style event where people “become” violinists.
Hello everyone in Takeno and Toyooka, nice to meet you. I’m Ayako Kato.
I am a violinist. Up until now, I have studied Western music, performed using my body as a foundation, cultivated some meat, replicated my recital, and carried myself as a musician.
So, in reality, what exactly am I—the violinist—as seen from the objective perspectives of “you,” “the town,” and “the space”?
What kind of impact does a violinist have on “you” and “the town”? Or is there no such impact at all?
Through this residency, I will once again reclaim the contours of a body shaped by classical music. If you ever hear the sound of a violin somewhere in Takeno, I will surely be there.
Come find me, following the sound, even if you’re a little nervous.
