A semi-active state given over to dolls, bodies, AI, and video

POV: is a residence-based video research / performance project by dancer and choreographer Shoya Fukunaga and doll artist Haruki Inose.

During the residency, they will visit various locations in Toyooka and record places, materials, time, and bodily sensations through vlog-like video documentation. Rather than deciding in advance what to look at, what to film, or from whose perspective something is seen, the project deals with the very condition in which points of view begin to shift.

In the first half of the residency, they will travel through areas such as Kinosaki, Takeno, Toyooka, Genbudo, Hidaka, and Izushi, collecting video, photographs, conversations, and observational notes. In the second half, they will incorporate AI and use the gathered materials to work with small scores for the body and for filming.

By gradually giving the process over to dolls, bodies, AI, cameras, and places, the project explores a “semi-active” state: neither fully active nor fully at rest.
