- YADANBOPSEOK
「YADANBOPSEOK」 defines theater as “a one-time-only community formed by chance encounters.” Through theatrical language, it brings back to the stage the sense of community that has been pushed aside by efficiency and purpose, and asks what new forms of community might be possible in the contemporary world.

The deep sea. An anglerfish, always late, swims toward a faint glimmer of light, while a little lantern follows behind. Having lost their sense of direction, the two beings face a single question and look into each other’s eyes: “Will the light we have been chasing truly save us?”
『In the Deep Sea』 is a story about the things we have come to worship as light. “Economic independence,” “social success,” and “the recognition of others” are both life goals and elusive illusions that keep us swimming endlessly.
In a deep sea where all sense of direction has been lost, the play personifies the deep-sea anglerfish—a creature that emits its own light to lure others—as a contemporary human body.
Those who move toward the light ultimately either devour others and remain alone, or turn their backs on the light and flee into deeper darkness.
However, 『In the Deep Sea』 leaves the ending open. Rather than a sharp, blinding light, it entrusts the audience with the possibility of a soft glow—one born from relationships.
The workshop explores the relationship between the body and the mask through Neutral Masks and Character Masks. Participants set aside familiar modes of expression that rely on the face and facial expression, and experience how the mask emerges as a presence through breath, centre, gaze, and movement. Rather than imposing a character onto the mask, they attend to the impulses and possibilities offered by the mask itself, discovering new ways of inhabiting and using the body.
