Preparing food, praying at a shrine or church, watering plants, waiting for the train, earthquake preparedness, agricultural work, or simply greeting a neighbour: many of the gestures we repeat every day quietly shape communal life. Yet in times of social, political, and environmental uncertainty, opportunities to gather and reflect together often become fragile.

Everyday Rituals – Practicing Tomorrow invites interested participants of all ages, abilities, and experience into a shared quest on the performativity of daily life across the Toyooka region.
Artist in Residence Marie Hahne will spend her time in Toyooka listening closely to daily rhythms, observing gestures, collecting sounds, objects, and stories, and responding to them in open workshops of shared embodied experimentation and play. Together, participants will explore movement, objects, sound, and the surrounding environment through simple performative actions.

What happens when grocery shopping becomes choreography? When a prayer becomes a dance? And when sharing a cup of tea becomes a prayer?
