- Three Pielbergs
Three Pielbergs is an all-weather-proof creative group led by playwright and director Mitsunori Fukuhara that seeks to release its accumulated artistic desires toward the outside world. They are the frontrunners of the Anti-Roof Society. Sword in hand, the unmasked trio swings down a lofty theme: “presenting a momentary escape from the inevitable joys and sorrows of life”!

A Special Program Exclusively
for Toyooka Theater Festival Attendees!
“The Trip to Rehearse My Disappearance” is theater to be heard—an experience of theater through your ears. And it’s free. Everyone visiting or participating in the festival is welcome to listen.
You’ll find QR codes at the venues of each performance and in the official program’s daily guides. Simply scan the code and start listening. At each night market venue, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, one of the story’s characters—appearing as they did in their youth—will step out of the audio world and into the venue in physical form (played by a different actor than the voice cast). Why are they in their youth? Why have they appeared here? Listen to the main story all the way to the end to find out.
The story follows a woman on a two-day, one-night journey from Kawasaki, Kanagawa, to Toyooka, traveling as if she were disappearing.
The festival areas are all quiet at night, making this a slightly lonely story that keeps you company in the stillness of the evening. But don’t worry—it’s not a depressing one. Listen after seeing the performance you came for, when you’ve returned to your hotel and find yourself alone with nothing to do in the middle of the night. Of course, you don’t have to wait until nighttime. You can listen while traveling between performances, or on the train ride home from Toyooka. The story features real streets and buildings in Toyooka, so you might even use it as a guide for a stroll while taking a break from the theater.
Three Pielbergs have previously appeared at the Toyooka Theater Festival with a performance at a baseball stadium two years ago, followed last year by a beach performance and a screening in a hotel banquet hall. This year, they’ll be appearing right by your ears.
