Since 2020, whenever I try to write something, the following sentence comes to mind.
“I find it hard to believe that there is any substance to human existence. It is truly frightening to contemplate the power that exists in the outside world. There is no mistaking that writing a play is difficult work.
It must be extremely harsh to judge a murderer. (Hofmannsthal, Dialogue on Poetry, translated by Tetsuhiko Hiyama)
I will write a play with all my heart to make various things easier.
