As someone from Taiwan, Kinosaki Onsen is a place with which I have a deep and mysterious connection.
I have wonderful memories of visiting Kinosaki Onsen as a tourist 13 years ago in the winter, staying overnight and enjoying plenty of beef and crab.
In recent years, friends of mine who have experienced KIAC’s residency program have told me their stories, and each time I heard about it my admiration for the place grew.
This past September, I was given the opportunity to participate in the Toyooka Theater Festival with a piece titled “The Bathhouse of Honest Desires.”
This year’s piece is also set in a hot spring bathhouse like last year, and I feel as if it was inevitable fate to be so.
It is as if I am being reunited with an old friend taking on a different form at a different time in life.
I am very much looking forward to meeting everyone from all over the world through my performance by this small bathhouse.
And my heart is now bursting with excitement at what a happy and precious time it will be.

I am so excited to participate in my first Toyooka Theater Festival.
The venue of our piece, the Kinosaki International Arts Center, has a particularly special place in my heart.
I also love Kinosaki Onsen, and I am very proud to be able to visit this place again and perform with our team from Taiwan.
The story of “Sincere Bathhouse” is set in a hot spring bathhouse situated by the sea.
The world of this little tale of the sea seems to resonate with the scenery of Kinosaki Onsen.
I am really looking forward to meeting you all in Kinosaki Onsen in the fall.
