The fusion of science and art is the main focus of this project, based on environmental recovery data of coral, giant clam shells, etc. from 50,000 years ago on Kikai Island, formed by the uplift of coral reefs by a massive earthquake that occurs once every tens of thousands of years.
Also inspired by the discovery of a large amount of coral from the Noto Peninsula that was uplifted by the earthquake on New Year’s Day 2024, the work was premiered at the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art’s exchange space as a project associated with “Anima Rave” in the “Dance with Everything: Ecology of Empathy” exhibition.
It is a play that imagines and re-evaluates the world, exchanging perceptions of humans and living creatures. In response to feedback from researchers who saw the premiere, the play and its direction will be revised and performed in a new iteration.
