- Daijiro Harada and Masaharu Sato
In today’s world, where printed literature is gradually fading from everyday life, this unique collaboration offers a bold invitation to rediscover the beauty of Japanese literature. Actor Daijiro Harada and percussionist-composer Masaharu Sato—known for his work with the avant-garde group Hikashu—join forces in a groundbreaking performance.
Harada’s powerful voice and at times almost haunting physical expression, paired with Sato’s passionate and spontaneous music—crafted using instruments from around the world—create a vibrant fusion of spoken word and sound.
Through this immersive experience, audiences not only reconnect with the richness of Japanese literature in an engaging way, but also come closer to a new cultural world of sound and expression.

“The Restaurant of Many Orders”
Two gentlemen on a hunting trip in the mountains stumble upon a Western-style restaurant deep in the forest. A sign at the entrance reads, “Please come in. You are most welcome.” As they step inside, they are met with a series of increasingly strange requests.
“Morning of Farewell”
On the final morning with his ailing sister, the brother spends their last moments together in the snow, expressing his sorrow and quiet acceptance of her death through a heartfelt poem.
These two works by Kenji Miyazawa will be performed at the Asago Art Village.
